چکیده

For biological arrays, performing multiple experimental repeats is a common way to improve certainty of gene identification. But this is offset by the high cost of each experiment. In a typical experiment, n independent measurements (e.g., data from n separate gene expression arrays (Affymetrix, 2002; Lipshutz et al., 1999) are combined to yield a single estimation per assay (e.g., per gene). Thus, 2n independent measurements, yields only n comparative measurements. We show that it is possible to compute abstractly the probabilities appropriate for using other subsets of the potential n comparisons derivable from such data. We show the 2n − 1 independent comparisons available from among the n possibilities perform the best.

Fuzzy Linear Programming Method for Deriving Priorities in the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process

There are various methods for obtaining the preference vector of pair-wise comparison matrix factors. These methods can be employed when the elements of pair-wise comparison matrix are crisp while they are inefficient for fuzzy elements of pair-wise comparison matrix. In this paper, a method is proposed by which the preference vector of pair-wise comparison matrix elements can be obtained even ...

Multi-criteria analysis of ranking preferences on residential traits

Pair-wise comparisons assume additivity, transitivity and equal weighting of properties’ traits. This paper explores multi-criteria treatments of pair wise comparisons in order to reveal the implicit hierarchical decision making process used by analysts who perform residential valuations. This treatment is presented as an extension of traditional grid treatments used extensively by professsiona...

ADDIS: an automated way to do network meta-analysis

In evidence-based medicine, meta-analysis is an important statistical technique for combining the findings from independent clinical trials which have attempted to answer similar questions about treatment’s clinical effectiveness [1]. Normally, such meta-analyses are pair-wise treatment comparisons, which only include the comparisons between two treatments, e.g. treatment A and placebo. When ad...

مکان‌یابی محل ساخت پل با استفاده از فرآیند تحلیل سلسله مراتبی و منطق فازی در GIS

The selection of proper bridge sites across a river depends on many factors such as economic, transportation and geomorphology. In this paper, the best sites for bridge building are identified in a case study by using analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and fuzzy logic in GIS environment. First, the river is divided into a number of segments based on the similar characteristics, each of which ...

Sesame extraction gel as an agent for prevention of dental caries: An in-vitro study

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Sesame has a high content of calcium. Regarding to the lack of adequate data about its remineralizing potential, we conducted this study to evaluate the surface hardness of enamel exposed to sesame extraction gel in comparison to artificial saliva and fluoride.METHODS: After mounting and polishing twenty-four caries-free human premolars, the baseline microhardness was record...

Impact of Reporting Bias in Network Meta-Analysis of Antidepressant Placebo-Controlled Trials

BACKGROUND Indirect comparisons of competing treatments by network meta-analysis (NMA) are increasingly in use. Reporting bias has received little attention in this context. We aimed to assess the impact of such bias in NMAs. METHODS We used data from 74 FDA-registered placebo-controlled trials of 12 antidepressants and their 51 matching publications. For each dataset, NMA was used to estimat...
